I am currently a full-time graduate student at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus. I am working towards my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, and am currently teaching a class entitled "Learners and Diversity in Learning" (EDPY 401) for undergraduate students who hope to become certified teachers. I truly enjoy the classes that I attend and also those that I teach, and have found graduate school to be a very challenging, yet satisfying experience. After I graduate, I hope to continue teaching undergraduate students, conduct research and facilitate the development of "lifelong learning" for my students and my community. My areas of interest include free choice and informal learning (how/do people learn from TV, internet and museums) and the impact of humor in the classroom. I am currently studying the impact of humor in an undergraduate economics class, and am excited to analyze the data I am collecting. I am also interested in the use of technology in classrooms, and am excited by the new educational games that are being developed. I am taking classes in the Educational Technology department to learn more about these topics. You can learn more about the Ed Tech program by clicking on the following link:
